Commercial standard heat exchangers, typically a fixed tube bundle such as a BEM or BEU, usually have a 300 psig 300 F pressure/temperature rating on the shell and 150 psig 300 F pressure/temperature rating on the tubeside.
A typical shell and tube heat exchanger will contain a tube bundle inside an outer shell, or body. Cold water flows through these tubes, whilst hot water, or gas flows around the outside of the tubes, enabling the heat from the hot water or gas to be transferred to the colder water inside the tubes.
Stainless Steel Heat Exchangers McMaster-CarrAlso known as shell and tube heat exchangers, they transfer heat using liquid or steam that flows through the shell to heat or cool liquid in the tubes. Btu/hr. cooling capacity is based on cooling 180° F process water with 85° F water and a 10 psi pressure difference. Shell and tubes are 316 stainless steel for excellent corrosion resistance.
There are a few different types of water-cooled heat exchangers, each having their own pros and cons for the various applications/industries theyre used in. The three categories are as follows:Shell and Tube the widest range of applications and capabilities; Plate Style most efficient and most compact
