The hot steam in the top of the steam space will cause the heat exchanger to expand there, while the cool water in the bottom of the steam space has the reverse effect. This uneven expansion/contraction can cause mechanical stress to the heat exchanger structure, notably to the soldered, brazed, welded or expanded joints in plate and shell and tube heat exchangers, and air heater batteries.
Condensate at steam temperature and under 100 psig pressure has a heat content of 308.8 Btu per pound. (See Column 4 in Steam Table.) If this condensate is discharged to atmospheric pressure (0 psig), its heat content instantly drops to 180 Btu per pound. The surplus of 128.8 Btu re-evaporates or flashes a portion of the condensate. JPThermal Products - Shell and Tube Heat ExchangersThis proven fixed tubesheet shell and tube heat exchanger offers the cost effectiveness that comes with having a highly standard design, while easily providing for various options to meet specific customer requirements. Dec 10, 2008 · We have two shell and tube heat exchangers that were just put into service in the last month. They are for process and make-up air heating with 45 psig steam in the shell and 40% propylene glycol through the tubes. The heat exchangers are simple horizontal u-tube with ¾" x 0.049" stainless steel tubes. Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers Wessels CompanyThe heat exchanger can separate two systems that have very different operating pressures, operating fluids (i.e. glycols, potable water, etc.), operating temperatures and cleanliness issues. WST Series (ASME):Steam in Shell; ASME & CRN certified; Tube side:125 PSI (standard), 150, 300 PSI & 400 PSI; Shell side:150 PSI, 300 PSI pressure ratings (coming soon) WWT Series (ASME):Boiler Water in Shell
Also known as shell and tube heat exchangers, they transfer heat using liquid or steam that flows through the shell to heat or cool liquid in the tubes. Btu/hr. cooling capacity is based on cooling 180° F process water with 85° F water and a 10 psi pressure difference. Shell and tubes are 316 stainless steel for excellent corrosion resistance. Steam Heat Exchangers US Spirax SarcoSteam heat exchange solutions allow heat to pass from a primary heat source to a secondary fluid without direct contact, the two main 'steam to water' types are 'shell & tube' and 'plate' heat exchangers. Used in indirect heating applications. Fluids can be
